Leadership Structure

The Admin Team of the Duchess Mennonite Church is the day-to-day decision making group of the church.  They are appointed by the Council of Elders.  Their responsibilities are to plan weekly services and special events, to coordinate ministry efforts, to encourage and support staff and volunteers, and to uplift the church in prayer.  Sitting in on the team are the pastoral staff, a Council of Elders representative, and one or more members at large.  Suggestions and concerns about the church and its ministries can be directed to the Admin Team.

The Council of Elders at the Duchess Mennonite Church is the governing body of the church.  Elders are elected at the Annual General Meeting by the church, and serve 3 year terms.  The Council of Elders is responsible for the visioning and direction of the church, large financial decisions, and staffing issues.

The Pastoral Staff of the Duchess Mennonite Church consists of the Senior Pastor, the Women’s Care Pastor, and the Youth Pastor.  The Pastors serve as ministry facilitators and are part of the leadership team, sitting in on both the Admin Team and the Council of Elders as non-voting members.

The Discernment Committee is appointed annually by the Church Council of Elders to serve as a body that prayerfully select individuals to match up with ministry placements in the church.  At the Annual General Meeting, the Discernment Committee presents a slate of ministry areas and corresponding volunteers to fill those areas.  The congregation votes on accepting the slate for the year.
