As I am sure we are all aware, it has been a tad cold this week. I don\u2019t know about you, but I am extremely unproductive when I am cold. I huddle under heaps of blankets, hoping the kitchen floor will sweep itself and the dishes will end up in their proper places without my interference, or waiting for that paper to write itself. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When my surroundings aren\u2019t my idea of ideal circumstances, my productivity drops to an all-time low. However, when I\u2019m the right temperature and everything is just so<\/em>, I will voluntarily go on a cleaning spree that ends when either my feet are about to fall off or I can\u2019t find anything left to clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019ve found my spiritual life to be the same. If I\u2019m \u201cthe right temperature\u201d, or in the right mood, I follow God eagerly. I read my Bible, pray, worship, spend so much time with Him. Then I hit a cold spell and WHAM! I\u2019m back to huddling under a blanket waiting for God to act instead of me seeking His face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I don\u2019t want my spiritual life to be that way. Cold, then hot, then back to cold. I want consistency. And that is something I have to work on. Yes, God can do great things and help me in my troublesome spots, but I also need to grow, and that takes both cultivation and discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There isn\u2019t somewhere particular I\u2019m going with this, so I\u2019ll end with these words: \u201cBut from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.\u201d (Deuteronomy 6:29)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" As I am sure we are all aware, it has been a tad cold this week.
