Just…why?

On the infamous day itself, I was able to remain unscathed by the rampant tricks that were afoot all day…because on the day, you sort of have a subconscious knowing that something’s up. But then…the next day comes.

And you suddenly forget what just went down, (at least I do) and find yourself happening upon information from the day before. I saw many things I was heartily confused by, or didn’t give a second thought about believing, only to realize MUCH LATER that they were not real.

It’s irritating! I don’t like being catfished for weeks by old information! It gives me trust issues!

To make things worse, when REAL information DOES come out on that unfortunate day…I DON’T BELIEVE IT! (I’m thinking in particular of *cough cough* a certain spaceship that I wholeheartedly thought was fake for multiple days…) And then I’m just even more confused!

What does this all mean? Ultimately, it’s not that big of a deal. It can be annoying, sure, and I think it hurts our pride when we completely fall for something fake, but it doesn’t really matter in the long run.

I think this points to a funny thing all people naturally do – we gripe and complain about the small things that, truth be told, don’t affect us that much, but we often fail to point out the really big things that DO affect us in the long run. The things we know are blatantly wrong.

We shove that under the rug, because it’s too big. We can’t handle something so…important. What difference do we make? And we continue to focus on the little things that feel more within our control.

But we don’t need to do this. We are salt and light in a world of blandness and darkness. A little salt goes a long way, as anyone trying to stop a toddler from adding more salt to the pot has learned. A little attempt to change things can impact way more than you could ever imagine.

We can do a lot more than grumble about the small things in life.

This is a delayed reaction to something last that happened last week, but I have a bone to pick with whoever started April Fool’s… Why?
