Recently at a Young Adults night, I was discussing with a group the idea of \u201crunning the race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTherefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.\u201d (Hebrews 12:1-2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the ideas we came up with was the concept that while we are all running towards the same goal, we are all running a slightly different race. There is a common focus and finish line, but we are going to take a different path sometimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On top of this, we will hit mountains and valleys at different points in life. While one of us might be on a downhill stretch, cruising along with relative, someone else might be mountain climbing over one of the biggest hurdles in their life so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What does this mean for us as a Christian community?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think it\u2019s easy for us to assume that other people are in the same place as us, but we all experience seasons of growth differently. The difference between a brand new Christian in the first six months is often incredible; sometimes people who have believed their whole lives trek along at whatever pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another thing is simply understanding that some people are having difficult times now, and we as a community can try to hold people up and support them through those difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
