There is a somewhat universal experience that most artists have faced at one point or another in their lives: Procrastination. This is usually coupled with perfectionism for an extra kick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know it\u2019s something I struggle with. I have all these ideas – all these projects to start, whether it\u2019s a work project or a story or a *cough* instrument *cough* (don\u2019t ask…).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I aspire<\/em> to fix up a gazillion things, to update this and do that…but there are so many ideas. Too many ideas. So instead of picking one thing, I get stuck and do nothing at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is usually at least somewhat impacted by the desire to do whatever it is well. Like, if I\u2019m going to start a project and spend days, weeks, months, working on it, it is going to be good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This leads to me pushing the start date for longer, more difficult projects as far as the eye can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But if there is anything I have learned during my first three months at the Author Conservatory, it\u2019s that we have<\/em> to get rid of that spirit of perfectionism. Nothing on this earth will ever be perfect. So kick that to the curb and make things anyway. Work hard. But don\u2019t work perfect.
