Ah, New Years. The time of resolutions and too-late nights.
I don’t think I have ever made a New Years Resolution in my life. I often resolve to start this or stop that, but usually its at 11pm on a random day of the year when I feel the need to get my life in order.
I don’t mind the concept though. I think sometimes they can be a bit silly or superficial, (that’s my opinion though) but I can also see the beauty in using the new year timing to focus on something specific.
There are many things that pop into my head that I want to get better at. Many things I could easily chuck on a “Resolutions” list and, knowing me, either obsess over or promptly forget about.
However, I think the most important thing for me to focus on, an area that impacts every part of my life, is (you guessed it) my relationship with the Lord.
I find when I invest in this part of my walk with God, the rest of the area of my life where there is struggle and room for improvement benefits. Funny how that works. By not focusing so hard on the little things, I end up improving them.
New years are new opportunities. Make the most of them.
